Aiko

I was introduced to Oyasumi Punpun by a person I discussed

with at length online and it was a pretty wild ride. a friend I

would've loved to know more who committed suicide... Rest in peace

Spoon, I wish I could've helped you.

I think that's what you can call a real tragedy, as in a tragedy

that feels real.

This is Aiko, she comes into Punpun's life rather early and is a

big part of it during the whole story, in a way. I like this pose of

Aiko in the manga (which can be seen here) because, in a way,

when you know the whole story, it hurts even more.

I realised afterwards that I actually draw her more happy than

what she is in the original image. Was it just bad reproduction or

was it an unconscious desire to see her more happy? Or was I

seeing her as more happy than what she is in the actual story?

I have to say that despite the dark tone of the story, I found it

strangely hopeful, even inspiring; with how the characters keep

going on despite what's happening to them. They have flaws,

they're not perfect, they have emotions, they are selfish, they

are kind, they are caring, they are nasty and sometimes evil :

they're humans and it's beautiful...

Of course, it's better if you buy it, but a quick search and you'll be

able to read this gem. Do it if you can.
